I am a speech-language pathologist. Developmental Verbal Apraxia or Developmental Apraxia of speech is a motor speech disorder that is neurologically based. It is caused by subtle brain impairment or malfunctioning. Most children have nothing in their birth or prenatal histories that would suggest a possible cause of the DAS.
