Both my sister (53) and I (45) both have been diagnosed with Sweet Syndrome. Interestingly enough, I had outbreaks for about 10 years off and on and dermatologists gave me about 10 diagnosis..but when my sister got it...her doctor had one of the sores biopsied. Later, so did I and they both were diagnosed. Neither of us have leukemia..Check with the NORD National Organization for Rare Disorders...they have some info. We suspect that our hormones are what triggers episodes...altho we both have minor other problems that are the same...fatigue, 25 lbs overweight, suspected thyroid trouble (altho nothing shows up on tests) fibromyalgia, etc. But we are both basically healthy..we've been anemic before but nothing more serious. To control the blisters (we call ourselves the Blister Sisters)....we take DAPZONE and it works. I've been on it for about 2 years.....ever since my hysterectomy. Within 1 day of having a hysterectomy....I had about 40 blisters everywhere....the Dapzone conrols the outbreaks....and has caused no other trouble. There aren't many people we've found that have Sweets and I think most of them are women. Feel free to email us. Did your dad have thyroid trouble by chance?
