                        Our son will be five in May and has moderate  to severe dyspraxia and also has dysarthria.  He has made much progress and 4yrs old he  tested at a 5yr old level in is cognitive  abilities test.  His speech has greatly  improved since his second birthday, but  still alot is unclear and mostly only  people close to him on a daily basis can  comprehend what he is saying.  I am aware that  we have a very long road ahead of us as  far as therapy and progress.  I ask the   therapist what is typical of progress,  and mostly my answers are slow progress.  I am currious more on the terms the statistics  and odds of age category more than fast,  slow etc.  I also have been told he can  overcome these problems by controll.  I guess  what I am looking for is typically at what  age a child has this that he can be   understood by others outside the family?    If any one has been through this or is  a therapist that can give us info it   would be appreciative.    Thanks    Zach's Mom
