Our son will be five in May and has moderate to severe dyspraxia and also has dysarthria. He has made much progress and 4yrs old he tested at a 5yr old level in is cognitive abilities test. His speech has greatly improved since his second birthday, but still alot is unclear and mostly only people close to him on a daily basis can comprehend what he is saying. I am aware that we have a very long road ahead of us as far as therapy and progress. I ask the therapist what is typical of progress, and mostly my answers are slow progress. I am currious more on the terms the statistics and odds of age category more than fast, slow etc. I also have been told he can overcome these problems by controll. I guess what I am looking for is typically at what age a child has this that he can be understood by others outside the family? If any one has been through this or is a therapist that can give us info it would be appreciative. Thanks Zach's Mom
