These are two different types of xanthomas: tendon xanthomas as Roger likely has are related to high LDL cholesterol levels; the other type mentined that were being treated by gemfibrozil and were resolving were likely "tuberoeruptive" xanthomas that are usually caused by very high triglycerides (and are effectively treated with gemfibrozil). Roger-tendon xanthomas don't typically have a very dramatic resolution. How high have your cholesterol and LDL levels been? How are you being treated presently? It is, of course, critical that you been treated by someone who is familar with this condition to be sure that not only you, but your family members who may be affected, are well cared for.
