Due to single-mom financial difficulties and no family to fall back on, my daughter (almost 7) is in a foster home. 2 years ago she had a shunt line installed due to a massive cyst in the sub-arachnoid space in her brain. At the time she was in my care. She had a shunt valve adjustment for a pressurization problem (an additonal flow regulator at the end, just outside her stomach). Her neurosurgeon was suprised at how early I picked up on her symptoms. But now,no one, particularly not the foster family, takes the potential for problems seriously at all. She has told me she's had fevers. She's told me that she's gotten in trouble when she sometimes will wake up in the morning and be dizzy and wants to throw up and has shakey legs. She doesn't always have to wear a helmet when she rides her bike. And not when she rides her scooter. It seems I'll never be the perfected humaniod parent-type that CPS needs in order to give them back to this imperfect sensitive Mommy who never hurt or allowed them to be hurt. Ever. So, how the do I get them to take the possible shunt problems seriously? P.S. The foster family don' talk no good english like. An they don' know noteen 'bout no doctor stuff....ARE YOU FOLLOWING WHAT I"M TRYING TO CONVEY HERE?
