Dear mother, I am the mother of a 8 yr old boy with congenital nystagmus. He is doing wonderful he has lots of friend and loves school believe it or not reading is one of his favorite subjects. He does not play baseball but does participate in basketball and football. He had a head tilt and had lmuscle resection surgery done 1 yr ago and it has decreased the jumping and his self esteem has gone throught the roof since he can now look people straight in the eyes now...I work closely with my sons teachers and have educated them on nystagmus and they have been very receptive. He makes b's and is doing well...It is a trial and error thing on there abilities and unabilities as we call them......Hang in there it is usually harder on us then the child....They live with it daily and don't even notice the difference......
