Ellie, I too have had lower back problems, due primarily to degenerative arthritis. I was given three epidural steroid injections in my lower spine in a pain clinic. he doctor in "pain Management" that performed the procedure indicated that three was the maximum number of steroid shots a person should have. My neuroligist finally sent me for physical therapy. Over a period of about two months, my pain was aleviated, as well as a "drop foot" that had developed. I still continue to do prescribed lower back strengthening exercises (on a rather casual basis at home) and have been free from pain since the formal physical therepy ended. I might add that I have been put on Vioxx, an anti- inflamitory, and it is working wonderfully well. Good luck. Jim
