I am a 41-year-old woman. I recently saw my doctor about symptoms that I thought resembled perimenopause. Ten days before my period, I was feeling anxious, depressed and irritable. I couldn't sleep, and was sweating profusely and feeling hot. My doctor, however, said he doubted if it was perimenopause because I am on the Pill. Nontheless, he tested me for it, as well as for hyperthyroidism. My tests came back negative. So my question is: Could these symptoms be associated with PMS, and is there evidence of PMS worsening in the pre-menopausal years? on
