I was diagnosed 12yrs ago with Crohn's although I had symptoms since my teens.I got pregnant with my 1st child at 37 - first try too! I was off all meds at the time but at 7 wks gestation I had the most awful flare up and had to take 40 mg Prednisone for the rest of the pregnancy. He was born just perfect - no problems. I had my 2nd baby at 39 - another first try too! But this time the flare up happened at 2wks I hadn't even taken a preg test yet. Again I had to take 40mg prednisone but this baby was born 7 wks early - but that could have been my age and a very stressful job at the time. Again he was born just fine. (You always worry when taking drugs during pregnancy !) I am now 41 and just last year had another flare up (not preg this time!) it was so bad I got taken in for an emergency bowel resection 40% of colon and last 8" of small bowel were removed. After that I still got permanent diarrhoea and no drug helped. I tried many.I insisted I be referred to a dietitician specialising in bowel disorders and the difference is miraculous. My problem was a lactose intolerance. Who'd have thought? Every one is different and my cure is unlikely to be yours but try a dietitician like I did. It's worth a try. Good luck with the baby-making. Crohn's hasn't stopped me in that department!
