I had the surgery twice on left hand; surgeon said scar tissue from first surgery had formed around the nerve. Never got strength back in that hand, but cured the discomfort. Good luck. I would try a different surgeon next time---ask how often he does this surgery and try to learn who his patients have been and how satisfied they were. Can make a difference.
