Hi my mother-in-law was diagnosed with TTP(Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia Purpura)and her blood platelet count had went down to 50,000 which made her have a stroke, so the doctors said that with out blood transfusion, or rather replacing the bad platelets with new she would die so being one of Jehovah's Witnesses she refuesed blood of any kind. So with the support of her friends and family she went through dialysis by using nonblood fluid, volume expanders(saline,Dextran,Hetastrach and Neumeg which is a platlet rebuilder) once the bad platletes were removed these fluids as I mentioned were used to rebuild and replace new platletes on her own natrually and savely with out the danger of get HIV or some other deceases that blood carry that screening does not remove. She was diagnosed on the 10/10/00 the procedure was done on the 10/13/00 and how is she now, well I'm happy to say that she's recovering very well her platlet count is now at 155,000 well over the safty limit.
