A friend of mine experienced the same problem. She lifted a patient at a nursing home and stranied the muscles in her lower back. Her doctor told her to take a 6 week sick leave during which she took a muscle relaxer medication called flexeril. When she returned to work she was on light duty ( no lifting anyone heavy) for 4 weeks.
