I just found this website. In March 2001 I was hurting in my low back and went to the Dr.,,,saw the PA. Well I am new to the area I live in so first of all seeing the pa was new to me. She said, I think you have a bladder infection. I was given an antibiotic and sent on my way. I was never told to follow up..well, i continued to hurt ,,,,went back and she said you have the same thing...hematuria. I never knew. She ordered an IVP. I also took the IVP to an so called very good urologist in the Dallas area. First thing he told me was ,had you come to me with blood in your urine I would not have ordered an IVP. What was I suppose to think after that comment. I did an 24 hour collection and they ran cytology. He said all test were ok.,but when I went to gynecologist,,,,a new one, he sent urine off and it showed infection. I went home where I was established and my family dr. and personal friend sent my urine off, same thing,,,hematuria and infection. The urologist said take antibiotic and get another ivp in 3 months. Even my gynecologist(by the way I had seen one the year before and he asked me,,have you ever had any bladder problems.,,,so I am wondering if it showed up in year 2000. I decided to change family drs. because they seemed to dismiss it and were somewhat tacky. The new family dr. sent me to a urologist for a second opinion, this uro did an cystology in his office and said your bladder looks good and the ivp you had done looks good.,,,come back in 6 months.... I must say I am truly worried. I do not know what questions to ask..since I am just learning all of this....I do not know what Nocturia is or interstitial cystitis is. I do not know how to read how many blood cells I am leaking. Should I go to a diagnostic center? My past family dr. told me what tests I should have done---Ivp, ultrasound,,,,cystology. He said reflux could cause it. Any information is greatly appreciated. I am 36 years old and have never been sick in my life other than perhaps a couple of colds. One Dr. said strep throat could damage filtering of kidneys....Please respond.
