I just weaned my 19 mo old last month. He was also very attached. I went cold turkey. It's the only way for me. He cryed for two nights, on and off and on the third day it was me who was suffering with engorgment. I went to my garden and cut cabbage and wrapped my breasts and I was alright within a week. The baby is now happily weaned after only two nights of discomfort. I hope this helps.
