Hello, I fought with lice for over a year with my daughter in kindrgarten. Believe me, I understand your frustration!! First of all, as dumb as it sounds, gather all your childs stuffed animals, and any toys that have 'fluff' in them, double bag them in garbage bags and stash them in the basement or wherever for at least a month, 2 or 3 is even better!! You can not wash the lice out of these toys, as they dig down into them even further and they can live up to two to three weeks with no sustanence at all. At first its hard for the children, specially to take their most beloved animals, but it is absolutely necessary to do so. After a few months, you can be gauranteed that the bugs are dead and its like getting a whole new bag of toys to the children, or even more like having old friends coming back home. Next, give up the combs and pick thru your childs hair with your fingernails to remove the eggs, just like a Momma monkey.. this takes an enormous amount of time and patience, but its better than allowing critters to live and breed on your child. Its best to spend at least an hour a day at this task.. for as long as it takes. It helps if you treat their head first with a bug killer or cover their hair with real mayo and a shower cap over night.. this drowns the bugs and it isnt harmful to your child like all the pesticides in store bought products. You need to have a serious talk with your child about keeping their hair away from other childrens hair and not to share combs, hats etc. Stress how very important it is. I dont know if your child is a boy or girl, but it seems like live prefer girls hair.. either way, get a bottle of leave in hair conditioner and spray it on their hair every morning before they go to school, (put long hair in a pony tail or braids or some way to keep it all back)the bugs cant attatch their eggs to slicked up hair, and they wont want to breed there. My daughter said she felt like a greaseball and some kids teased her for a while, but when she realized these were the kids that had lice, adn she did not, their teasing was insignificant to her. Also, check their hair often, my daughter has been lice free for 2 years and I still check her head every few days. Hope this helps, it worked for us.
