In december 2000 wife was diagnosed with deep vein thromb and was in cogestive heart failure. We were told the only cure was to have a thrombectomy and that the only safe place was UC at San Diego as they have done 1800 and the Cleveland Clinic ( 5 miles away ) had done less than 10. UC/San Diego would not do the surgery due to the mass of clots and said it was too dangerous. She was sent home on blood thinners and oxygen 24/7 in December 2000. IN april a CT showed all clots were gone and in July she was taken on all meds and oxygen. Hang in there you will be fine and all will be well. Wife came back from a situation worse than yours.
