Iam a 36 year old male that after a 19 hr flight to South America I developed a clot in the portal vein to my liver. My life had been hell for two years I had major surgery done within two weeks of my arrival from South America. A Portal Schuntz (bypass)was put into me to get the blood flowing again. It worked but not a 100%. Three months ago in Oct. I got a liver transplant. After three months of going to the transplant clinic and taking anti rejection pills I feel great, beside a few setbacks I feel like I will be back to my old self again in a few more months. I will have to take anti rejection pills and the blood thinner(Coumadin) for the rest of my life but this is very little to pay for having my life back and being alive. Don't give up, you will see that in no time you will be back to your old self. Please advise me of any information you get or have regarding DVT. I live in Vancouver, Canada.
