I think Carol is RIGHT on the mark. I have periods of intense diarhhea followed by long periods of constipation. Finding just the right combination of foods and fiber is extremely difficult. One thing I have yet to see is the problem of diet, gall bladder removal, and other disorders as they, in combination, influence my food-processing. I MUST take iron for anemia, which constipates. If I take lomotil (which is OTC, at least in my state) along with the iron, I would likely not have a movement until I had exploded (a la the aunt in the new Harry Potter movie). She's right that physicians don't understand, and surgeons don't trouble themselves with such mundane matters. But a registered dietician might be helpful. Has anyone consulted with a dietician and what was result?
