I agree with Linda, have him do the surgery (thoracosopy). I had a pneumothorax 4 years ago and it was the worst experience in my life. I was in the hospital for 16 days. The doctors tried everything to get my lung back up but it was impossible. Then finally they did the surgery stapled the blebs, removed a piece of my lung and roughed up the lung and chest wall so they would stick together. It took me a month before getting back to work but I got to tell you I would take the surgery 10 times over all the pain I went through with the chest tubes and colaposes. Once you have this surgery it is very unlikely that it will happen again. Let me know if I can be of any help. I know that when it happened to me I had never heard of Spontaneous Pheumothorax and via the internet while in the hospital I met some nice people that really helped me understand alot. I will say my prayers for your son. Suni
