I have 3 shunts for Hydrocephalus, Pseudotumor Cerebrai and Chiari Malformation. 2 of my shunts are VP shunts which go into the head ventricles. One is in the spine. The most important thing about the shunts is correct placement. If the doc does a good job, chances are you won't have problems. I have never had problems with mine but I have read a lot of horror stories which appeared to all be due to not placing them right. I'm used to them now and they don't bother me. I've gotten to appreciate them actually for they saved my life. I wish you well.
