I had a mastectomy in 1981 and in 1985, breast reconstruction from ny own tissue. This was more drastic than an implant, but more natural looking, and nothing to reject. Another advantage is that if your weight changes, the breast follows along. And as you age (I am now 74) and the remaining breast sags, so does the reconstructed one. The only problem is you must be careful not to lift very heavy weight, as this can result in an incisional hernia, which happened to me. However, this can be surgically repaired.
