You did not mention if your daughter is in physical therapy or if she has swelling. I have had RSD in my hand for 18 months and it recently spread up my arm. The worst thing you can do for it is ice. I have had almost constant therapy and now realize that I have to regulate the type and amount according to my pain level and how the RSD responds. Too aggressive can cause a flair, not aggressive enough can cause a flair. I have had paraffin treatments that help before message, but at times the excessive heat can cause a flair. The best thing I had recently was the use of the Jobst Pump which is a pressure sleeve. It helps to get the swelling down and there is less pain and more motion when the swelling goes down. RSD is so touchy...you really have to adjust to your own feeling, but use the limb as much as you can. Too little use makes it worse. I hope your daughter finds help. Find a good therapist.
