Yes it is. I didn't know I had one til I had a sound scan to check on a hernia I had; and they found a aneurysm. Am going to have a CT scan every six months or earlier to check its rate of growth. When it gets large enough, they will operate and repair it. Last Dec a neighbor was returning to our town with her fiancee to get married. They put up at a motel and during the night he had terrific stomach pains. He went to the hospital (this area is in the boonies; but we have a local hospital). Unfortunately, no doctor on duty knew what was going on and what to do about it, so he died that night. The aneurysm had ruptured. You need a vascular surgeon who knows what he is doing. Its better to know you have one (if you do), so that you can check its growth. Its a weakening of your aorta and the artery dilates like a balloon. So, you check its growth and when it gets dangerously large, you operate.
