My son sounds a little bit like yours. Around 2 years old I began worrying about his speech. He was saying very few words, and he relied on animal sounds when refering to an animal. He began receiving therapy in a hospital setting, but I saw little improvement. The therapist told me he was just delayed in speech. I then was told about a therapist who incorporated play therapy in her session (her garage has been transformed into a gym). After being put on a waiting list I got in. My son is now 3 1/2 and has just been diagnosed as having verbal dyspraxia. He has only seen this therapist about 6 times and I have seen improvement. She uses visual cuing, and oral motor exercises (blowing bubbles, whistles). My son loves going to her. She also has given me ideas to try at home
