Of course, get rid of latex gloves. The orthodontic elastics are latex. Some rubber bands, front office supplies, are latex. I found out the painful way that the elastic in socks and other clothing can also be latex. Look for contents of the materials used in your clothes to make sure that a synthetic elastic is used instead of latex. I think that neoprene, as in rubber lab bowls, is OK. I have found that the best substitute gloves are those made from nitriles and other elastic synthetics, not vinyl. I hope this helps. It seems that my latex allergy may have progressed into excema and other skin problems. It is also important to warn your doctors and nurses and technicians who may work on you not to wear latex gloves. I had run into that risk at my podiatrists. I hope this helps someone. I'd like to find a ready made list of clothing brands and/or manufacturers who do not use latex in their products.
