What a great friend you are for caring !! I too am a breast CA survivor of almost 3 yrs with recent mets to bones..I had 13 out of 16 + lymph nodes and have lymphedema whenever I overdo on projects..which is quite often..in fact my right hand is swollen as I type..I've been painting my house today..to me work has to get done and I can't afford to pay anyone. Plus it's great therapy for me to keep buzy. My suggestion to your friend is to check at her hospital where her insurance covers and see if they have a lymphedema clinic they can give her the massage needed to get the body cleared along with excercises or possibly contact the American CA Society. Also I have a great friend who is a massage therapist specializing in breast CA massage..a more gentle massage which helps reduce the swelling in my hand and legs/feet..have your friend also get a sink of warm and cool water and dip her hands/arms in both alternating..it opens and closes the blood vessels and make the work a little harder to get the "gook" out...be careful not to get it too cold or too hot.
