I, too, had dysplasia (caused by HPV) when I was 20. Luckily, this abnormal cell growth can be stopped. My doctor used liquid nitrogen to freeze my cervical area. For me, it took 3 "cryo" treatments and, although this usually works for most people, the cells returned within a year. He then opted to use Efudex cream, which you use like Monistat. The side effect of this was painful external burning but it was well worth the discomfort! This proved to be 100% effective for me! I'm now 36, have had 2 children and my pap tests have been normal ever since! It's torture waiting for test results, but keep in mind that having dysplasia doesn't necessarily mean you're doomed for cervical cancer or a hysterectomy. I'm sure there are even more options available now than there were for me 15 years ago. Feel free to e-mail me and best of luck to you.
