First of all, yes, get tested! It's very unlikely that you have, since Hep-C is a blood-borne pathogen. There is some meds that the doctor can prescribe. They say there is no cure, but the meds can keep the liver strong, functioning, and flushed of toxic buildup. There's more they can do now, than they claimed 4 yrs ago when I lost my mother to Hep-C. I hope and pray they found his in the early stages,you will have better results. She had already developed cirrohsis. Make sure you have a very good gastroenologist.
