I was first diagnosed with Tonsilitis approx. 18 months ago. This was followed by antibiotic treatment. However, what I thought was an extremely bad bout of tonsilitis returned a month later. Again I was given antibiotics. However, they did nothing and I was left with a low grade fever and pains in my arms, wrists, hands, knees, legs, ankles and feet. I went several times to see a rheumatologist with suspected RA after several positive blood tests. Thankfully it was not. However, continual blood tests over the coming months also showed positive. Eventually, I was told I had post-streptoccal bacterial arthritis which is apparently a modern day rheumatic fever. I do not have redness or swelling but 18 months on, the pain will not go especially in my knees and feet. I was put on antibiotics for a month which had no effect and neither did the anti-inflammatories. I am therefore resigned to taking high dosage painkillers continuously. I would rather find alternative - I know of no one else who has suffered from this. They think is caused by a bacteria in my throat. Can anyone help?? Thank you.
