Sounds kind of suspicious that she has these symptoms right before she is to start a job. Post-partum depression doesn't usually manifest itself like that. And with her Crohn's disease, it sounds as if she might have an anxiety disorder along with chronic depression, not related to pre- or post-partum. Trust me...been through this myself and 4 years of group therapy once a week helped me tremendously along with an anti-dpressant. Not all work...and some caused nausea, but my doctor kept trying different ones until she found one that agreed with me (Zoloft). All depressants don't work immediately though since a therapeutic level has to be built up in the blood...this can take a minimum of 3 weeks. And don't expect an anti-depressant to be a miracle pill either. Sometimes therapy with a professional is needed. Don't worry about the stigna attached to this...some of our more famous citizens use therapist. Hope she gets well soon but she has to make an effort....which is hard to do when one is severely depressed.
