My one-year non-identical twin-daughters were born with bilateral choanal atresia. After quite difficult operations and several dilatations (the choanas kept re-stenosing)the problem seems to be practically overcome. However, nobody seems to know whether this is hereditary or not. Besides, although there is no visible sign in the girls (they look and act one-year old) the pediatrician now wants to rule out the fact that the atresia may not be part of any "syndrom". I have scheduled an appointment for a genetist next week for the girls, my husband and me. I'm really very anxious. Does anybody have any info regarding this matter? What "syndrom" can he have in mind?
