I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis in October 1997 but probably had it for two years prior to that. My Sarcoidosis began with a severe case of the hives. One month later I had inflammation in my seventh and eighth cranial nerves. One month later it was in my parotid glands and was thought to be the mumps. In October of 1995 I began to experience swallowing problems and after two years was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis in my esophagial nerve endings and muscles. My lymphatic system is also affected and most recently I have been diagnosed with kidney involvement. I am currently taking Remicade along with Prednisone to try and slow the inflammation down. I know how you are feeling when you say no one understands what you are going through and they think it is in your head. One may appear to be fairly healthy on the outside but the inside has been ravaged completely. The only thing I have learned to do through all this is to get up every morning with hope that someday in our lifetime they may find a cause and a cure. Some days are better than others.
