My sister was diagnosed with costochondritis on her 54th birthday. She, too, began taking pain relievers and was having trouble sleeping. Four days later, she died, supposedly of either a heart attack or an aneurism. I will always wonder whether the costochondritis was a misdiagnosis or if it masked the symptoms of her heart attack. They did not perform an autopsy so I will never know.
