my son was also young age of having both his tonsills and adenoids removed, what was sapposed to be a 20 min procedure turned out to be 1 1/2 hours also he ended up in ICU for 5 1/2 hours and had a 24 hour nurse by our side during the "visit" to the hospital. I will tell you though, my son was dx'd w/asthma and sleep apnea ( he sounded like a whale while he slept)he was also dx'd as being allergic to fruit. after the surgery, which was scarey, we were released from hospital 1 week later, and i will admit we've had no allergic reactions, no asthma symptoms, no sleep apnea, no nothing.my son is very tiny compared to his brothers and classmates, however he's a smart kid. I'd rather have a small child then have a sick one with asthma, sleep apnea or something else - just my experience.
