NO! NO! NO! People with FCBD Do NOT have to have a Mastectomy and the thought of it is almost absurd!!!! If your daughters doctors has truly told her this she needs a NEW doctor ASAP!!!! This is CRIMINAL!!! Fibrocystic Breasts are VERY common!!!!! VERY!!!!! And there are LOTS and LOTS of ways to treat them with NO drastic measures needed!!! Is your daughter on the Pill? Do you know the level of estrogen in the pill? Is she on a triphasic or monophasic pill? She needs to be on a Monophasic LOW estrogen pill. The higher the estrogen the worse ther cystic breasts will be. Cystic Breasts and CANCER have very little to do with eachother...Please read that line again!!!!! There is a small chance that at some point in her life she may develop cancer BUT the there is a bigger chance that the cystic problem will go away on it's own!!!! She also needs to start taking Evening Primrose Oil. 1000mg's a day. That is what my Reproductive Endocrinologist had me on and it started working in 4 days. No more pain. I've had Fibrocystic breasts all my life and did NOT have a Mamo until I was 33. I also have a family History of Breast Cancer. IF for any reason they found something, a lump, or an area they thought was suspicious they would do a needle biopsy. If she ever had a lump/cyst that grew large and caused her tremndous pain and caused a deformity (VERY RARE!) they would simply drain it and test the fluid. Any doctor that wanted to do a Radical Mastectomy on a 20 yr old young women for FCBD is going to have a LOT of questions to answer what the Quality Assurance, Peer Review commitee at that hospital pulls her chard for questioning. Someone is VERY wrong! Good Luck!!
