Hi I had my tonsillectomy on July 21. I am 26 years old and it took me almost 7 years to get the courage to get them out. I also got sick alot and have sleep apnea. The day of operation when I arrived the took me in and got me ready right away. (Ask questions and get IV and talk to anasteisholigist.) Before I knew it they were wheeling me into the operating room and the Dr. greeting me then I just remember waking up in the recovery room. When I woke up I was alittle sore but the ice packs helped alot. They make you eat pops and once they know your drinking they let you go home. I was home in 5 hours. It does hurt when you swallow and your ears may hurt too. But you have to make sure you do drink. I have to tell you I never had surgery before and I was so scared but it does hurt but its nothing you cant tolerate. If I can believe me anyone can. Plus you say you have four kids, I dont have kids yet. If you gave birth to four kids this should be easy for you. Today is the 11th day. I still have slight pain when I swallow but not as bad. Just make sure you take your meds on time. I am still on a soft diet I eat scrambled eggs, cool soup, jello, and lots of frostys from Wendys. I have my post op appt. on Mon. the 4th to see if I go back to work. You will need help with the kids. You need to relax and recover. If you have any questions e-mail me.
