I am scheduled to have my tonsils and adenoids removed on August 7th. I am terrified. I have heard a gazillion horror stories about pain from other adults who have had the surgery done. I am 38. I have to have them removed because I have chronic strept throat and tonsilitis. This means I have these infections 24/7 - they never go away, and they have become so resistant to antibiotics that it has taken three bicillin shots in less than three weeks to get this latest flare-up into remission. I am chronically fatigued as a result of the infections since my body is always using its resources to fight them. Unfortunately, I have no choice but to have the surgery. My husband is taking a week off of work to help with out four children while I recover. Will this be enough time? I am also an actor and singer, so I am concerned about whether the surgery will affect my voice permanently? Does anyone have some insight?
