You should definitely get a second opinion from an endocrinologist. Although some meds (for any condition) take a while to truly kick-in, others just don't work for certain people, and should be changed immediately. If you happen to be on one of those horrible managed-care plans, and your doctor won't make the referral to an endocrinologist, transfer to a new primary and file a complaint with the insurance. You should not have to suffer just because a doctor thinks he/she knows your body better than you do! Good luck to you!
