I'm a 39 yr old w/male 3 1/2 weeks after tonsilectomy op. Mine did not go so well. 2 days after surgery an artery in the back of my throat ruptured at 5am and I had to drive myself to the hospital for emergency surgery to coterize the artery...very scary...but I made it through. This is aparently very rare but may have been avoided with the help of a vaporizer...the dry air may have dried the scabs from the surgery and caused this. Anyway some helpful tips. DO NOT DRINK ORANGE JUICE OR EAT BANANA'S...unless you enjoy pain. Buy lots of clear freezies or popsicles..they don't stain your mouth. I had tylenol 3's for pain....you can get a pill crusher from your drug store or pharmacy if you can't swallow pills or get liquid pain killers and take with ROOM TEMP. water...cold water seemed uncomfortable while freezing popsicles weren't..I don't know why! LOL Finally...If you have seasonal allergies...ragweed...pollen from Aug-until the first frost you may want to consider rescheduling to earlier or later in the year. If your nose & sinuses are stuffed while you sleep it will force you to breath through your mouth which dries it out....not a good thing ! ....sneezing really really sucks ! Very painful ! My only question to anyone who had probs with losing thier sense of taste after 3 weeks...did it return to normal? I hope these ideas help...GOOD LUCK !
