Dear Diane I have also been recently diagnosed with MG. On January 6,2000 I had my Thymectomy. I had 3 treatments of Plasmapheresis, it was suppose to be 5. After the 3rd treatment my blood pressure dropped to 47 and they decided against anymore. I was then given IGG and then the Thymectomy. I went into the hospital on December 28, when I woke up and realized I could not speak and was short of breath. My Thymectomy was done by an incision down the center of my chest and cracking of my sternum. I asked about the cervical way but the surgeon said that I would end up back in if we did it that way because some tissue is usually left over. I was wondering how you had your Thymectomy. I would also like to know when your symptoms started. Mine started over 5 years ago and every Dr. I saw mis diagnosed me. It feels good to talk to someone else about all of this. It's very rare and most people look at me like I am from out of space when I tell them what I have.
