I know how you feel Kim. I have a 4 year old grandson that is the love of my life. I believe he too is a victim of sbs. Before he was 3 months old I found out that his mother's father had been shaking him. I do know that when he was born he was purple from lack of oxygen. He seemed like a normal healthy baby. I remember the day his mother brought him her shortly before he was 3 months old. He was crying and his little shoulder was hanging down. I thought someone had broken his collar bone. He vomited quite often. I truly believe he was shaken. I can't prove it eventhough his aunt witnessed it and I know she will not testify in court. He can't walk, he doesn't talk. I know he knows everything that is going on around him. My pain is so unbearable. It hurts so much watching this precious little fellow struggle everyday. I wonder what the future will hold form. I have thought about calling Social Services but what will they do? Can they prove it? Is there really any justice for these precious little victics? I would like to hope so. I do know that prior damage will show up on Catscans. How can we protect these babies from further abuse? We love them so dearly and feel so much pain. My grandson has been getting therapy for over 2 years now. He was first diagnosed at the age of 9 months with brain damage. We noticed he couldn't open his little thumb on the left hand. Seems like everything went downhill after that. He is stronger now. He crawls to get around. I don't have much hope anymore. If I can help please let me know.
