I myself have struggled with anorexia for the past six years. It is a long and scary road that I wish I had never traveled. Denial is the first response when someone with anorexia is confronted. Explain to your girlfriend how scared and worried you are for her. Tell her that you are there for her to get help. The worst thing you can do for her is push her to eat or even worse, to treat her like she is a child. The disorder is so totally deceptive that being taken care of like a child can pull her in even deeper into the disease. It took me a few years to accept that I had a problem and to get help. I only wish I would have done something sooner to avoid the hurt I caused to my friends and family, not to mention the many health problems that I will have to live with. Please pursue your interest in your girlfriends' health. It may take time but she is the only one who can take care of the problem. Sincerely, Tiffany
