Hi. Your concerns for having a child with down is understandable, anything unknown is very scary but I don't think you have much to worry about. I work in an intervention program and I can tell you that the age thing is a myth. I know many, many mothers who have children with downs or other handicaps from the age of 14yrs. and up. I myself was 24 when I had my daughter born with down syndrome, trisomy 21 and I would NOT change a thing. That seems to pretty much be the concensous from all the moms who have responded, huh? Don't worry and talk to your doctor. They can give you a blood test to see if you're carrying an abornal gene but other than that it's up to God. Just enjoy your pregnancy - children are a gift! You will be so blessed no matter boy, girl, purple or green :) Sincerely, Sherri
