My father has had 2 surgeries for severe sinusitis, to no avail. He is an avid smoker, so I think that the smoking has a lot to do with his condition. I suffer from allergies as well as my father, and get the severe post nasal drip and "goopy" stuff. Whenever I feel like there's a big hunk of stuff in the back of my sinuses (not wanting to come out), I use a treatment my dad told me about. I get a cup of very warm water and put some salt in there. I never really measured the salt, but probably a couple of tablespoons. You can taste the water, and make sure it's not too salty. This is supposed to resemble normal saline. I do this remedy in the shower, my dad goes outside. You suck the warm salty water up your nose, and spit out the goop that comes through your mouth. I know that this sounds very gross, and my mom says she'd gag if she had to do it, but I guess she's never felt what my dad and I have felt. I wish you the best of luck. During the times of year that my allergies seem worse, I do this 2 or 3 times a day. Good luck and God bless, LeNita lenitameehan@aol.com
