MARG SALAFIA
My mother was diagnosed with SMS about six years ago, but has had the disease for about 10 years. Her muscles in her limbs get stiff only when she is about to fall ( which can be quite frequent). It is her torso which is constantly stiff. I have read up on Stifflimb Syndrome which seems to be the same as SMS but doesn't effect the torso. My mother relies on an intrathecal Baclofan pump which has improved her by about 20%. At least she is no longer on massive doses of clonazapam, baclofan & epilim. She now takes about 1-5% of the amount of medication she was taking before. She no longer falls asleep all the time & is generally better in herself. If anybody has any information on SMS, I would love to know. Regards Marg Salafia (Australia)
