My doctor told me that now they believe that one third of women who have had HPV(genital warts)become cured by their own immune systems, but there is no way of knowing if you are one of these people. HPV can be transmitted whether the warts are present or not. Even condoms aren't that helpful with this disease as they are with other STDs. When I first discovered I had HPV and after topical medications didn't work I received injections of an interferon type medication directly to the warts. It wasn't pleasant but the warts disappeared. This was 8 years ago and I haven't seen any sign of them since. However, I realize that I may still have the virus and I can still transmit the virus and the warts could reappear at any time.
