Cheryl: I, too, have both fibromyalsia and asthma. I had "chronic bronchitis" my entire childhood and during my college years. In my mid 30's I had such severe coughing while visiting my boyfriend in CT (he is now my husband) he took me to the emergeny room. A young intern there told me that he thought I needed to see a pulmonary specialist -- rather than just an allergist. I followed up - and was told (for the first time in my life )- that I am an asthmatic. The kind of asthma I had was cold-induced and exercise-induced, and brought on my some allergies. However, I did not wheeze as I always imagined was the sign of asthma.n Instead my chest got tight and I coughed -- eventually leading to bronchitis. It has been a decade since I began treatment for asthema and I have been free of bronchitis ever since!!! It never occured to me that there could be a relationship between the fibromyalsia (which I believe I have had since I was 10 years old - when I got a really bad case of mononucleousis) - other than the fact that my asthema is worse when my fatigue is bad. (But - then, everything is worse when the fatigue is bad). Luckily - I have not had a really bad bout of the fatigue symptom of fibromyalsia in several years. --- just pain. I wish you luck with managing your fibro and your asthema.
