Zomig, Imitrex, & Maxalt are 3 Rx drugs that my doc calls "bail out" meds. They are all in the same chemical family & I've tried imitrex (nasal spray,injection, & tablet) & Maxalt (melt in your mouth pill), & both have been VERY effective once a headache starts.... BUT the side-effects can be dangerous for people with heart problems & I personally don't like to take them because of the side-efects (heavy feeling in chest neck, wierd breathing). However, I DO take them because they are the only thing that works for me once a full-blown migraine has come on.... sometimes miraculously, although I think they have been less effective lately, perhaps from using them too frequently.. . ? I read somewhere that if one of the drugs doesn't work for you, then there's a good chance the other two might...If any of you have never tried these drugs, I strongly suggest talking to your doc about this & if it is safe for you....
