My daughter is 4 years old and has a severe speech problem. I don't know what she has yet, but her symptoms seem to match up to verbal dyspraxia. She can understand nearly everything we say to her and respond to it via actions, but her verbal communication is distorted. Kasidi also has trouble with peddling her bike, potty training, climbing and jumping. Fine motor skills are improving but are also delayed. She does not focus on the task at hand if it is not something that interests her. She's very sweet and has no behavioral problems except for the frustration she feels when she's not understood. She goes to an early childhood special education program at her public school and is receiving ot, pt and speech therapy. Her ot and pt seem to be paying off but her speech is still very unclear. The only three words that she can say clearly are mommy, daddy and jakey ( her little brother). I would like to be able to establish a connection with another parent in my shoes. I feel like there are no other children out there like Kasidi. Thanks.
