Hi: My daughter had hip surgery when she was about 15 months. She was in a body cast from her chest to her toes. By the time you read this e-mail, you will probably know most of what I got to say. Car safety is a fun one. A kid in a body cast will not fit in a car seat. We just proped her up in the car and fastened a seat belt around her. We were stopped by a police once. We had a blanket over her body cast. The police officer was going to cite us until be saw the body cast. Keeping the cast clean was a nightmare. We had to stuff a diamper in the hole of the cast. Not everything was caught. We were constantly cleaning. The child will learn to entertain themselves. After a while, our daughter was able to track her self around. Her arms became very strong. Our daughter is now able to sit still and be quiet for long periods of time. I think being in the body cast has something to do with that. Just be patient. Love your child, and God will help you get through this. Good Luck a God Bless.
